31 Days of Better Blogging: Day 6 - Plan Ahead

Today's challenge is probably my biggest challenge yet. Planning ahead is not my forte. I'm the world's worst procrastinator and I have been since birth. Seriously, I didn't even arrive on time.

Planning ahead when blogging is actually a really good idea because it will save you a headache in the long run and keep you from that panic inducing moment when you get an e-mail from about a blog tour you signed up for three weeks ago but you don't even remember signing up. Yeah....

And that's why I finally decided to start a blogging calendar. As much as I wanted to go out and buy a cutesy planner and different colored pens and washi tape to map out all of my blogging days, I didn't. Because I still have a stack of unused planners from last year that I stuck in purses, bags, etc., and totally forgot about, Instead, I used Google calendar since it's already on my phone which is practically glued to my hand and I labeled all of my different posts in different colors according to the event type.

Because I know the type of person that I am, if I planned out every single post, this blog would be no more. The more rigid and planned out something is the more I do not want to it. I don't know why. Issues with authority I guess.

I schedule my blog tour dates, blog posts that I have ideas for, posts I'm participating in (ex. 31 Days), and I try to make sure that I post my book reviews close to the release date of the book. Sometimes that doesn't always happen but.....such is life.

Rigid schedules work well for some people and do not for others. I think that the system I have going now will work for me and maybe even improve my scheduling skills in the long run. We shall see.

Is planning ahead a challenge for you? How do you plan ahead for your blog?
