Excerpt-

Open your eyes... no, no wait. Okay, deep breath, ready... almost. I might have had a bit too much to drink last night, fine then I was pissed, but so was Tomás, I think. Actually I can’t be sure about that either because Tomás ‘Pez’ Carrera—the gorgeous goalkeeper for the Santa Ana Saints soccer team—has a lot more experience than me at having a drink or ten. And now I was lying in a room that definitely wasn’t mine; in a bed with someone next to me; and, it was time to turn and face the music. On the upside, at least I was still wearing my underwear.
God please let it be Tomás next to me—I’ll go to church every Sunday for a month, honest. Good grief, now I was attempting to bribe God... I had sunk to a whole new low. It was the hangover or at least I think I had a hangover... can you get a hangover from four or five margaritas? I wasn’t a big drinker and I had never really been absolutely shit-faced drunk so a hangover would be a first.
I consoled myself that it had been a night of firsts, but I kept one of the firsts for another time. Damn it. I took a shallow breath so I didn’t wake the person next to me. Just get it over with.
I rolled over slowly and... what the fuck?

Character Name:  Tomás Carrera

Character Bio:
He’s the hottest goalie on the planet— Tomás Carrera has arrived at the Santa Ana Saints and the Latin lover is not only talented, he’s as hot as they come. Growing up with a single mom and as the eldest of five siblings, Tomás has had to be responsible all his life. Now his super star soccer status has provided for his family and allowed him to let his hair down… and that’s just what he’s doing with a playing contract in place, a Ducati to ride, and a new girlfriend on his arm.

Describe yourself what is your worst and best quality?
I am very good at soccer and hopefully Alice would say very good in bed J. Worst quality… I might be a little possessive.

What is the one thing you wish other people knew about you?
I didn’t call off my relationship because I became a ‘soccer star’. It just ran its course and I said goodbye to my childhood sweetheart and moved on.

What is your biggest secret something no one knows about?
My father cleared out when I was twelve, just let. I saw him again recently—he was at one of my games. He locked eyes with me and I turned away. I haven’t told anyone in my family.

What are you most afraid of?
Getting injured and having my marriage breakdown, when I get married. I want to be married forever. Like the song goes, “When I fall in love, it will be forever.”

What do you want more than anything?
To love what I do and to be loved.

What is your relationship status?
I’m going out with Alice. Exclusively.

How would you describe your sense of fashion?
I get a lot of good clothes from my sponsors, so I don’t have to work to hard at getting the latest clothes to suit me.

How much of a rebel are you?
When I moved to Santa Ana from Buenos Aires, I might have been a bit out of control. It was the first time I had real freedom… no family, no responsibility. I had money, fame, plenty of sex on tap and a Ducati. I don’t know if I’m a rebel, but I just wanted to do my own thing for a while and have some good times.

What do you considered to be your greatest achievement?
Getting an international soccer contract and getting Alice. I’m working hard on keeping both pumping J

What is your idea of happiness?
A great game on the field and a great night in the bedroom.

What is your most treasured possession?
My black Ducati motorbike. I love feeling it between my legs and the power of the ride.

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Standing up and doing what’s right.

What are the qualities you most like in a woman?
Strength and femininity.

Who is your favorite hero in fiction?
Bond, James Bond. So smooth and in control. He always comes out on top.

Which living person do you most admire?
David Beckham. He just has it all together… success, a great career, a family—he’s made a great career from his talents and looks.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I wish I could be better at public appearances. I don’t like crowds and I don’t like being singled out. Bit hard at the moment when I’m recognized a lot.

What is your motto?
Don’t forget your past, but embrace the future.

blurb

“Don’t fall in love with me. I ruin beautiful things.”

Love made him this way, but life makes him stay.

Life doesn’t give a redo. There’s no rewind or pause button to take you back or stop time. Once something happens, it happened. The most tragic of those times in his life, the ones he wouldn’t get back and the moments he could never fix, reminded Demyan Avdonin of a bullet meeting glass.
The impact of the bullet doesn't break the glass into pieces, but instead, leaves behind a single hole surrounded by a spider web of cracks. Fragile cracks that, when handled with the utmost care, would splinter into shards of what used to be.

Demyan thought he had been broken beyond repair once, four long years ago.

He was wrong.

She touched the glass, unknowing of the cracks holding him together. These are the broken pieces of a shattered man and the woman who made him live.

Life made him this way, but love makes him stay.

excerpt

Something was happening to him, and it was because of her. He was letting it happen because he liked the way she got under his skin, made him think, and forced him to feel. Even if it wasn’t always fucking pretty.

Demyan wasn’t sure how he felt about that other than the fact he didn’t want to think about it at all. Hooking up was one thing, but acting cozy was completely different and not what he should want.

“Demyan—”

“Don’t,” he forced out.

“But—”

Demyan turned on his heel, a hand flying up in the air to stop her from saying another thing. He made a swift beeline for the front door, grabbing his jacket off the back of the couch where he tossed it the night before.

“Demyan!”

At the front door, he tugged on his coat before yanking on his shoes.

“Demyan, please just wait a second,” Claire pleaded. “Please!”

Her cry sliced him straight down to the fucking bone. Like it ached in his heart because he was the one making her hurt. She was just feet away from him. Christ, he could reach out and touch her, soothe her if he wanted, but he couldn’t.

“Don’t do that,” Demyan said sharply, standing straight and trying to force back the rising anxiety and anger.

Claire snapped away from him as if he’d stuck out at her with his hand. “Do what?”

“That.”

“I don’t understand wh—”

Demyan waved at her. “That right there. This can’t be something. We can’t be something. Don’t do that.”

“Demyan, you’re freaking out over nothing.”

No, he wasn’t.

There were tears in her eyes. They weren’t falling, but they were there. She was hurt by his rejection, and he didn’t know how to handle what was going on inside his head and heart. So, it was pretty goddamn simple for Demyan. He needed to stop whatever this was before it went any further.

Straight for the kill, like any good monster would do.

“Don’t fall in love with me. I ruin beautiful things.”

Claire flinched. “Why would you say that?”

“You can’t fall in love with someone like me and you certainly can’t afford to believe there’s something here or that you can make me better again. I am broken—unobtainable and unfixable. I don’t need a fucking martyr in my life. I’ve got enough of those as it is.”

“Ouch.”

“Just … don’t.”

“Fall in love with you.”

“Exactly,” Demyan muttered.

“Why would you say that?” she repeated.

  Wasn’t it obvious?

“Claire—”

“Why would you tell me not to fall in love with you and then in the next sentence, call me beautiful?”
Because she was.

Book Reviewer Yellow Pages Foreword by David Wogahn
I wrote my first eBook in 1991. In those days, like today, it wasn’t hard to do if you had something to say and a computer to produce it. But what was hard, was marketing those early eBooks. Even if you advertised the book on a service like CompuServe, Prodigy or AOL, how would you ever find people willing to tell other people about your book?
I “discovered” the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages more than five years ago; April 29, 2011 to be exact (then called The Indie Book Review Yellow Pages). Newspapers and magazines were still employing book reviewers and “book bloggers” were considered an anomaly, given the same respect that big publishers were giving the new-fangled eBook formats like Kindle. Fast forward to today and those same reviewers—if they are still writing reviews—most likely have started a blog (and in fact might even be in this book). An indie author trying to get reviewed by a traditional media outlet is an exercise in futility. It’s also fair to say that eBooks have made the big publishers huge profits and now form a permanent part of their publishing operations.
Book blogging today has grown into a serious business. It is a necessary marketing tool to promote books and Christy Pinheiro-Silva’s Book Reviewer Yellow Pages—now in its sixth edition—is the definitive guide to this informal network of book reviewers. Collectively they rival the promotional power of the large circulation newspapers and magazines. Individually they can help niche books break-out to a wider audience. And that’s what book marketing is all about: helping thousands of small products in scores of categories seek and find their own passionate audience.
How I met Christy is a testament to modern book marketing, itself a lesson for new publishers. As a long-time reader of the pioneering eBook news website Teleread.com, I came across an article saying that her second edition was available for free. Free is still a popular way to connect with readers but in 2011 it was the fastest, sure-fire way to get your name and book noticed. Everyone had Kindles to fill-up and as a book marketer and author, who couldn’t use a free directory? By the time the fourth edition was published in 2013 it had grown to a 778 page tome. Seeing an opportunity for constructive feedback, I took to Amazon reviews to voice my ideas about what makes this guide book so important for my clients, and where I thought it could be improved. I’m happy to say that Christy read that review, contacted me, and took many of those suggestions to heart. Here are the two things you should know about the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages:
  • It defines a standard of etiquette. Christy’s 10 rules for author etiquette should be required reading for every author, regardless of whether or not book bloggers are part of your marketing mix. I confess it is so solid that I based a section of my own book, Successful eBook Publishing (Sellbox, 2012) on her advice. The blogosphere would be a better place if every author took her admonitions to heart in all their book promotion interactions.
  • It codifies the essential facts about a book blogger, so you don’t have to. Shouldn’t we be able to just “Google” book bloggers and fire off emails to reviewers? Nope. In reality it isn’t that easy. Trying to find the pertinent information so you can approach the reviewer who is right for your book (see point 1) is going to take you hours! There are no standard website designs for review websites, and you will need to visit each one (again, see point 1). Here is where the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages shines. Your small investment will pay big dividends in saving time in finding the relevant reviewers, and their contact information.
But one thing still remains the same, as it did for me in 1991. You simply must get people talking about your book if you are ever going to be a successful author. A book no one talks about is even worse than a book that doesn’t make money. And that’s where this wonderful community of book bloggers comes into play. Let the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages be your Michelin Guide to the Wild West World of book review bloggers. Book Blast: A Vixen in Venice - Kate Deveaux + Excerpt + GIVEAWAY!

The more you comment the better your chances are of winning the giveaway!

Blurb:

He’s an art thief on the run…with her heart

Look closer, into Hotel Totally Five Star Venice, where art curator Monique Le Bres has just walked through the doors of the newly opened swanky luxury hotel to assist with their art collection.

Alessandro Bonnard, the world-renowned art connoisseur and collector has been sent incognito to supervise Monique and oversee her acquisitions for the hotel.

Concealing his true identity, Alessandro is intrigued by the art-loving vixen with an appetite for kinky sex. He pursues Monique, charming her at every turn — taking her to places she’s never been — both in and out of bedroom.

Monique falls hard for the man who has utterly captured her body and soul. Only to find out he isn’t who she thought he was after all…he’s an art thief on the run…with her heart.

Excerpt:

Waiting a good half hour, Monique was quite sure the coast was clear after  her supervisor had departed. Weary from her travels she couldn’t wait to get back to her nice room and fall fast asleep in the sumptuous looking bed.

Stepping out of her office, Monique headed for the elevator at the end of the hall, noticing each door she passed had a nametag with identifiers. Sales the Direttore Vendite.  Food and Beverage. Diretorre del Marketing. Director of Marketing and so on.

The subdued hush of voices from an adjoining hallway made Monique stop in her tracks. Pausing, she listened. The soft giggles intrigued her. Tiptoeing towards the sound, she peered around the corner. Near the end of the hall, she glimpsed Donovan’s silhouette as he leaned against a woman, kissing her. His hands holding hers above her head as she hooked one long leg around his waist, pulling him closer to her as they embraced passionately.

Monique’s key slipped from her hand and tinkled noisily on the wood floor. Mouth agape, her cheeks flamed as Donovan looked up and nodded to her from down the long hallway. Then the woman looked at her too. Monique immediately recognized the young blonde with the pixie cut hair and the cute little body from the lobby. The one she’d seen Donovan pat on the ass when Monique had first arrived.

The young woman merely smiled at Monique, her legs still wrapped around her supervisor’s hips, and then returned to kissing Donovan. Running her hands along his wide shoulders before he spun her around and planted his hands on her ass, pulling her too him. Hard. Monique looked away, but then back again. Strangely aroused at the unbridled passion, she was aware her nipples peaked under her silk blouse as she watched his hands slide over her curves and slide up and then up and under her skirt.

He tugged the woman’s panties down.

She kicked them off with flair. Crumpled, the lace thong lay in the hall while the lovers went at it. Grabbing, tasting, and kissing. Monique was aware her own panties were moist, shocked by her own enjoyment at watching them. Hiking the woman’s skirt up further, Donovan pursued her, baring her sculpted thighs and making Monique’s body quiver as she watched when Donovan slid his fingers between the woman’s legs. A soft groan escaped his lover’s mouth as they kissed and she tugged impatiently at his belt.

Monique gulped an audible gulp. Donovan cocked at eye in her direction.  Monique quickly retreated, embarrassed to have been caught standing there enjoying spying on the lovers.
