Get To Know Me | 2015 Book Blogger Love-A-Thon

I'm so excited to be a part of the Book Blogger Love-A-Thon this year! I can't wait to meet some of the other lovely bloggers and learn all about them! You can find the list of other Book Bloggers here at AlexaLovesBooks. Be sure to give the other bloggers some love! Thanks for stopping by!

  • What’s your name?
    • Ella
  • Where in the world are you blogging from?
    • Sweet Home Alabama :)
  • How did you get into blogging in the first place?
    • I started this blog shortly after I started writing for National Novel Writing Month. I wanted something that would keep me accountable for my writing goals and an outlet that I could use to get out my writing frustrations. From there it turned into a book promotion and book review blog by accident.
  • How did you come up with your blog name?
    • It's very literal. I am a writer in progress. It feels weird to just say "Oh, I'm a writer." because I feel like it's a process. No matter how seasoned you are, you can always improve so I'm always "in progress".
  • What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
    • I've noticed a romance trend. Completely unintentional but I can't resist a good love fest.
  • What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
    • I honestly haven't done much lately. I've been a little neglectful of this poor blog. I've posted some discussions and some rants, mostly rants. I've also posted some promotion for my book; a playlist, excerpts, a review opportunity, etc. I'm thinking up some new stuff to add soon.
  • Best blogging experience so far?
    • Having an author that I really like commenting on my blog. I'm not much of a 'fangirl' but I definitely squealed for that!
  • Favorite thing about the blogging community?
    • For the most part, the people. I'm very much an introvert so I've been very slow to interact with people in the blogging community but those who I have come in contact with and interacted with are really fun and very welcoming.
  • Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!
  • What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
    • Oooh, good question....I would say The Selection by Keira Cass. I will say these aren't the most well written books I've ever read but I like the concept and I really do love some of the characters.
  • Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
    • Scout Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird.
  • Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?
    • I write, obviously, but I also love spending time with my kids and our smelly dog, sewing, making jewelry, playing basketball with my husband, or binge-watching trashy shows on Netflix/Hulu
  • Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
    • Craft supplies, office supplies, and purses. Not necessarily in that order.
  • At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?
    • Um. My "song" changes just about every day but right now I'm really stuck on Sugar by Maroon 5. I sing it to the hubs quite often.
  • Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
    • I don't really like it when books are turned into movies or vice versa but if I had to choose, I would probably go with Empty Cup by Suzanne Costigan. I was just given the opportunity to review this book (review coming soon) and it is amazingly heartbreaking. I could really see it playing out on a movie screen though because of some of the drama in the book. BUT -- if it ever becomes a movie, theaters should offer free boxes of tissues for people who get the ugly cries. It will happen!

Nice to meet you! I really like Sugar by Maroon 5, every time i see that music video I get way too happy. I also can't wait for Go Set a Watchman!

Ooh, Sugar is such a great song! I seriously can't help smiling whenever it plays on my iPod. And we share a love of crafting and office supplies, I see. I can never resist them when they have cute designs!

Thanks for participating in this year's Love-a-Thon!

Hi Ella! I too am a writer in progress, and I love the way you explain that because it is so true.

Oh, Scout Finch. I can't believe I forgot about her, but I would love to be friends with her and Jem (I had a major crush on Jem when I first read).

I have a hard time resisting a romance fest too :)

I've had one author comment on my blog, and I think I'm still fangirling! OH, OH, OH, I love me some Maroon 5! I've been stuck on Animals ;)

Now Maroon 5 is stuck in my head - which is totally not a bad thing. Craft supplies are a weakness of mine as well.

Can't wait to see your other posts!

I really love how you explained being a "writer in progress". I feel like this is where I'm at in my writing career stage. It's definitely a progress a slow climb upwards. But I love it.

Love your blog name and the reasoning behind it! I'm an aspiring author and I definitely like the idea of thinking of myself as a "writer in progress".

The Girl at Midnight and The Sin Eater's Daughter!! So excited for those two!

I love To Kill a Mockingbird - good choice for a book BFF! I too can't enter a craft or office supply store without leaving with some sort of new item, especially when it comes to back to school shopping. School supplies are a weakness :)

Hi Ella! Craft supply shopping also made it to my list, I can't help looking for cute little things to add in my scrapbook. I'm so excited for Red Queen as well!

I have read both Red Queen and Never Never and they are both good reads! I liked Never Never the most, but I would suggest if you can, wait until the second part is released :P I'm very excited for The Sin Eater's Daughter as well :) Sewing and Jewelry! Now I'm in awe of you !!! Although I can crochet and Knit, I CANNOT sew. I am terrible at it, but my mother is on a mission the next time she visits to get me started at sewing haha.

Never never!! I loved that book, I can't wait for the second part of it!! http://frannieinthepages.blogspot.it/2015/02/love...

I'm pretty shy myself. Sure I've always commented on the blogs that I've followed (if I had something to say), but I always felt like I was missing out on the friendships that a lot of book bloggers raved about. This year I'm trying to make connecting with other bloggers a bigger priority. I'm exploring more of the blogosphere. I'm trying to be more consistent audience member for the blogs that I follow. I'm trying to be more active on Twitter. And I find that I'm having a lot of fun with it!

Hi, Ella! :D

I do love romance. I read books from most genres but it's always the love story in every book that interests me most.

I'm so excited for The Girl at Midnight and The Sin Eater's Daughter too! :D

Red Queen is a fantastic book! It's so exciting, especially near the end. :) I'm really curious about The Selection series. The first book is on my Kindle, but I haven't gotten to it yet. It does seem like one I would enjoy reading, though.

Eeeek I totally have to read The Selection. It's on my TBR! And I love shopping for craft supplies too. I have to totally watch my wallet though- I can go overboard.
Spread the love <3

I love reading your blog. I am an introvert too so I know how that can be :)

Blogging is really great for pulling you out of your shell I think. I've definitely gotten more outgoing and social now that I've been doing the blog for a while :)

So nice to meet you!!! I still need to read Red Queen but I'm still very excited for it! :)

Hi Ella!! First of all, thanks for stopping by The Fox's Hideaway during the love-a-thon! I'm so late with replies and commenting back, but I'm HEREEEEE.

I think I started a blog because I wanted a creative outlet for my writing too. But that quickly also encompassed my love of books. Ahhh, I love what you said about your blog name. I kind of feel that way too, a "writer in progress." I'm not there yet, but one day I will be!

I'm also an introvert, which actually hindered my first year of blogging. But I can definitely say that now I'm getting out of my shell and I've made wonderful friends. I hope you get to that place where you're very comfortable speaking up. :)

It was wonderful getting to know you!
