Review: 

This started off a little slow for my taste but once it going, it was actually a great read!

And sexy, too!!

There is a cliffhanger and I wasn't too excited about that because I don't really care for cliffhangers but it has me intrigued enough to read the next book, so I guess it did it's job.

Pietro is a very hot character and the mafia element makes him even hotter to me. He's a very loyal character and his affection for Lucy shows his sweet side. Lucy was a great character as well. She doesn't let her overbearing father turn her into a victim. And their sexual tension creates some of the sexiest scenes!!

The mystery surrounding what really happened to Pietro's family is very intriguing and I'm interested to learn more about what happened there. I'd love to see a little more of the mafia aspect in the next book in this series. Overall this was a great read and I look forward to reading more about the characters in this series.

REVIEW: Lacy Eye - Jessica Treadway (LOVED THIS BOOK!)

I just....I can't even.... 

Lacy Eye is a phenomenal book. I would compare it to something along the lines of Gone Girl because of the suspense and the writing style. I dream of being the kind of writer that Jessica Treadway is. I knew about halfway through the book who the real killer was but even though I knew when I finally got to the part where the killer was revealed it was written in such a way that I was still like this: 

Dawn's lazy eye gives you an almost immediate reason to feel sympathy for her and to immediately dismiss her as anything more than a pawn in Rud Petty's sick game. The fact that her mother's facial disfigurement mirrored her own physical imperfection was not lost on me as I read the book. They were connected, two sides of the same coin. Even though Hanna had two children, Iris was always the stronger of the two children and Hanna believed that she needed to be emotionally and physically available for Dawn at all times. Because of her own guilt from her past, she saw Dawn as this broken little child who would always need her mother and who would always be dedicated to her mother. And that's why Hanna was so adamant to others that Dawn didn't have anything to do with her father's death. 

Even though Hanna's dog, Abby, would have barked if a stranger had entered the house but didn't the night that she and her husband were attacked, Hanna still believed that Dawn had nothing to do with the attack. She believed that Abby recognized Rud, who had saved her life after a suspicious poisoning incident that her husband Joe had suspected Rud of doing in order to save the dog's life to impress them. Hanna firmly believed Rud had been the one to attack them but that Dawn had been with her roommate Opal. She believed that until she had a flashback and remembered a tattoo on the person in the room. Rud didn't have a tattoo but the trouble-making next door neighbor, Emmett Furth, did. She started questioning everything about that night and was determined to get her memories back. When she finally does, it is not what I had expected....

This was an awesome book! 

Elizabeth LeBlanc's character portrays herself as this fiery, fiercely confident FBI agent but that persona comes crashing down as soon as Navy SEAL Derek Vaughn steps back into her life. Elizabeth and Derek have spent the past year away from each other but pining for each other. While Elizabeth kept herself busy trying to get over Derek, he spent his time trying to figure out how to get into her bed and into her heart. Elizabeth wants to keep it professional, Derek wants to take their relationship further. 

The whole time they are pushing and pulling against each other emotionally, they are knee-deep in trying to find terrorists who have managed to sneak in the United States through the Mexican border and are planning an attack in Houston, Texas. Derek wants to keep Elizabeth safe and protect her from any danger but he also wants revenge on these terrorists who are also responsible for the death of one of his SEAL brothers so he inserts himself into the FBI investigation and uses his connections in order to help Elizabeth find the terrorists and stop the attack. 

I really liked the dynamic between Elizabeth and Derek. You can tell that they both really care for each other but you can also sense the apprehension and the instinct they both have to protect themselves and each other. Elizabeth doesn't think she can handle the months away from Derek and not knowing where he is and what he's doing but Derek is sure he can't let her go. No matter how much Elizabeth tried to get Derek to back off and stay out of the investigation, he continues to find leads and step in at the last minute, not to rescue her but to help her. 

I liked that Derek worked well with Elizabeth instead of trying to rescue her. Yes, there were times that Derek did manage to rescue her but he didn't ever try to throw his weight around and make her feel like she was less because she was a woman. No, he doesn't like the danger involved with her work but the more he works with her the more he sees how strong and capable she is of handling the dangers of her job. 

The action and suspense in this book revolving around the terrorists and their plot was written very well. Their sneaky entrance into the US, their weapons, explosives, and their attack plot are all realistic and you can tell that Laura Griffin obviously did her homework. 

I spent half the book yelling for her to quit being so stubborn and just give in to her feelings for him. I think that was my only complaint about the book. I felt like Elizabeth held out too long for Derek when she could have spent more time enjoying time with him. Laura Griffin wrote this book really well and I cannot wait to read more of her work!
