Stick in the Mud meets spontaneity
Stick in the Mud Meets Spontaneity (Meet Your Match #3) by Rachael Anderson
Home from college for the summer, Samantha Kinsey steps into her role as nanny for her two favorite little charges. But when she finds herself playing chauffeur more than playmate, her summer outlook quickly turns from fun to bleak. That is, until she drives the girls to a family-owned ranch and meets Colten McCoy—a genuine, hard-working cowboy, who's as set in his ways as he is handsome. Although he claims he doesn't need any fun in his life, Sam’s determined to help him find it. But she'll soon discover that cowboys are about as easy to train as wild mustangs. Stick in the Mud Meets Spontaneity is about an adaptable girl and a not so adaptable guy. It’s about learning to accept people for who they are and realizing that sometimes who they are is exactly who they should be.

Review:

Samantha Kinsey is spontaneous and care-free. Colten McCoy is the complete opposite. The two of them together is sure to be a disaster......only it actually works out quite well!

This is a clean read that proves opposites attract! Sam and Colten are just what each other need in their lives, it just takes them a few minutes to realize it. I loved Sam's bucket list. Every time I make a bucket list it reminds me just how boring I am! When Colten decided to help Sam cross of things on the list, I knew then that they were meant for each other.

This is a part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. The characters are very lovable and the story is nicely done. I loved the setting of this one. Who wouldn't love to be on a Colorado ranch during the summer time? (Seriously, it's hotter than Hades here in Alabama right now!) Sam and Colten definitely met their match in this awesome love story!

REVIEW:

This is a really fun book! It's part of a series but it can be read as a stand alone. This is the only book in the series I've read but I am planning on reading the rest of the series! Rachael Anderson is a great writer!

Samantha and Colten reminded me a lot of me and my husband, except I'm more like Colten. I'm set in my ways like he is. I'm the "stick in the mud." Samantha is just what Colten needs to shake up his life and remind him that life is worth taking the risks and going after what you want. It was so hard to put this book down. The characters are very lovable and hook you right from the start. Samantha's driven personality makes her my favorite character. I love how determined she was to reach her goals!

The chemistry between Samantha and Colten is palpable from the very beginning and I loved seeing their story play out. This is a clean romance and I enjoyed every minute of it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

BLOG TOUR: With No Regrets - Julie N Ford + Excerpt + Review + Giveaway!

With No Regrets

With No Regrets Cover

With No Regrets by Julie N. Ford

Living With No Regrets Is Harder Than It Seems Finley isn’t exactly sure when her life began to feel unfamiliar. She suspects the transformation started long before she caught her husband and fellow garden club member doing the white-trash-two-step on her new Bernhardt sofa. Now free from the shackles of a loveless marriage, and with her children off to college, she’s finally able to go searching for the missing pieces of her heart. Finley’s best friend, Cathyanne, is already working hard to ensure that Finley finds true love this time around. But when Finley is unwittingly tossed into the arms of two men—their sexy trainer and her neighbor, a popular country star—Cathyanne fears finding the right guy will be more complicated than she ever could have imagined. For Finley, building a new life feels as impossible as flying a paper airplane to the moon. But maybe, just maybe, with the right help, she will find her whole heart—even if it’s in the very last place she thinks to look.

Praise for With No Regrets

“The imagery is beautiful, the romance very well done and realistic.” Rachel Ann Nunes. Finley is a spunky and snarky Southern woman with a lot of sass! The romance is swoon-worthy and satisfying. And underneath it all, it's got a great message. Definitely worth a read!

Excerpt:

Fastening the last few buttons on an old pair of coveralls she’d found in what had once been the bedroom, Finley tucked a couple of threadbare towels and another pair of coveralls for Josh under her arm and made her way out into the main room. As she rounded the corner, she caught sight of Josh hovering over the beginnings of a roaring fire. He’d removed his flannel shirt along with the long-sleeved T-shirt he’d been wearing underneath, and had hung them on a couple of pegs to dry. With one arm resting on the mantle, he had the thumb of the other hand hooked in the front pocket of his jeans. The waistband sat low on his hips giving her a peek at the briefs he wore underneath. Apparently Jockey was his underclothing of choice. Something in her chest stuttered, pinged, stuttered, and then turned over again, this time settling into a metrical purring. Her eyes traveled from his jeans up, and on to the hills and valleys of his abs and chest. Baked to a perfect honey brown, his moist skin gleamed in the firelight, his perfectly toned muscles dancing with the flame.
Tearing her eyes from his chest, she took in the strong angles of his face, his serious gaze watching the fire as if anticipating an answer he’d been waiting a lifetime to hear.

“What are you thinking about?” she asked.

Josh’s head whipped up like he’d forgotten she was there. A slow smile dragged up one side of his mouth. “You, and how . . .”—he surveyed her baggy coveralls, his eyes lighting on the name-patch that read, Finnie—“and how sexy you look in even the most unflattering outfit I’m pretty sure I’ve ever seen on a woman before.”

Finley crossed over to him, a swarm of bees, butterflies, and pretty much anything else with tiny, fluttering wings, filling her chest. “You’re an impossible flirt, but thank you,” she said with a touch of false modesty. “I’ve got a pair for you too.” She held out the coveralls and towels.

Josh kept his crooked grin aimed at her while he eased the towels and dry clothes from her hands. She tried not to drool as the muscles of his arms and shoulders tightened and rolled under his skin. “Thanks,” he said, his gaze taking a quick side-trip from hers to look over her offering. Breezing over the patch, his eyes then made a quick U-turn to fixate momentarily on the name. He looked back to her under a questioning brow. “Roy?”

Finley’s focus drifted off-center from his. “They’ll likely be too long and a mite tight in the shoulders, but at least they’re dry, and you won’t freeze.” She offered him a sheepish smile. “I think the temperature has dropped about ten degrees since the storm hit. At this rate, we could have snow again by morning.”

Tossing the coveralls to the hearth, Josh then shook open one of the towels. “I bet I can come up with a way of keeping warm that doesn’t include me wearing your ex-husband’s hand-me-downs,” he said as he wiped the towel over his chest and shoulders.

Finley shifted her gaze from the heady look he was giving her. All of a sudden, instead of gently beating, those tiny wings in her chest felt as if they were desperate to escape a cage that had grown much too small. “I’m sure you can, but . . .”

Taking an end of the towel in each hand, Josh horseshoed it around his neck. “But?” he repeated.

Review:

With No Regrets is beautiful story about a woman named Finley who ends up on a journey to find herself and true love with a little help from her best friend. While this book focuses mainly on Finley and her relationships with the men in her life, it's about more than that. It's about how a great friendship can help you overcome even the most heartbreaking of situations.

The characters in this story were so easy to fall in love with. Their southern gentility came out in their personalities and I loved, loved, loved Finley and her sass! She was definitely my favorite character. But as strong as Finley is, I liked that she needed a friend to lean on. Cathyanne was her encouragement when she felt low and she helped her move on from Roy to find a real true love.

This is a great story about finding your own voice and deciding what you really want in life. Finley learns what she really needs and wants from a partner and how to get it. It also shows how valuable other women are to a woman's life, especially when she's going through hard times. This is a great feel-good story for front-porch relaxin'!

   Excerpt

Ryan’s eyes seared into mine. “I was hoping I would get to dance with you tonight.”
 “You were?”
“Yes, but you’ve been quite popular.”
He pulled back a tad and looked down at my dress. “You look very …”
“Please don’t say grown up.” He smiled and shook his head.
“I wasn’t going to say that, I was going to say …” he tried to think of something.
“You were going to say it, weren’t you?”
He sighed. “Charlee, you really know how to make a guy feel inadequate don’t you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. I find I like it.”
 “You do?”
He nodded his head. “I also find you to be very …” he hesitated.
“Very what?”
“Beautiful and annoyingly charming.”
“How can somebody be annoying and charming at the same time?”
“See what I mean?” He winked.
In my heels, we were practically eye level, and our faces were mere inches apart. I could smell the sweet smell of honey on his breath; I wanted more than anything to taste it, and the way he was looking at me at that moment, I thought maybe he felt the same way. His eyes quickly turned to confusion though before he pulled me a little closer. I rested my head against his and swayed against him. It was even better than I imagined. I wanted the dance to last forever.
“By the way,” I whispered in his ear. “I find you very beautiful too.”

I'm a Colorado native who currently calls Alabama home. I'm the mother of three amazing children who have grown up way too fast. I enjoy the mountains, vacations at the beach, date night with my husband, late night talks with my kiddos, touring model homes, and pink bubblegum ice cream. I grew up on the Western Slope in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I learned to love the beauty of the outdoors, but not camping--unless staying overnight at the Marriott counts. I met my husband while living in Denver and then several years later we traded the beauty and majesty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains for the art and culture of Chicago, Illinois. My family and I enjoyed living near this world class city, despite the crazy cold winters, but new adventures awaited in Northern Alabama--just six hours away from Orange Beach, Alabama. These three magical places (the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Chicago, and Orange Beach) are the inspired locations used in several of my books.

BOOK BLITZ: Girl of Mine - Taylor Dean + $100 GIVEAWAY!

Taylor Dean's newest book is now available!

GIRL OF MINE

The book trailer:

The song that inspired me while writing GIRL OF MINE:
(Watch until the end. There's a surprise!)

A interesting tidbit about GIRL OF MINE:
My dad always worried about the cost of the electricity bill. If he walked past my bedroom and noticed that my light had been left on, he would turn it off and holler,
"That's okay, Taylor, I got your light."
It became a bit of a joke in our household. My siblings and I loved to try and catch my dad leaving on a light, just so we could say,
"That's okay, Dad, I got your light."
Now that I'm an adult with my own family, the term takes on new meaning.
The message behind it has worked its way into my new novel, Girl of Mine.
My father brought me into this world, he cared for me, and he taught me well. He gave me my "light," my life.
He nourished my "light" and helped me become the person I am today.
So, Dad, thanks for getting my light.
I'll always be grateful.

Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Upon finding herself with an empty nest, she began to write the stories that were always wandering around in her head, quickly finding she had a passion for writing, specifically romance. Whether it's paranormal, contemporary, or suspense--you'll find all sub-genres of clean romance in her line-up.
